Florida Digestive Health Specialists is very pleased to welcome Cynthia L. Harris, MD, FASGE, to Gastroenterology Associates of Sarasota. 

Dr. Harris is a regionally and nationally recognized gastroenterologist in the field of advanced endoscopy with special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies including pancreas, esophageal, stomach, colon and rectal, and bile duct tumors and the therapeutic interventions needed for these malignancies. 

Dr. Harris joins us from Moffitt Cancer Center where she has spent the last 8 years of her career as an advanced endoscopist, most recently at the rank of associate professor.  While there, she served as the advanced endoscopy fellowship program director, was a member of innumerable operational and research committees including the Scientific Review and Medical Executive Committees, and implemented new technologies such as cholangioscopy and confocal endomicroscopy.  She spearheaded the first physician-led capital budget project at Moffitt that resulted in a cutting-edge fluoroscopy suite for advanced endoscopic procedures.  She is also a strong advocate of colon cancer prevention, having participated and organized many colon cancer awareness events and by performing screening colonoscopy.  She has had numerous poster presentations at national meetings, been an invited speaker regionally, nationally, and internationally, and has authored or co-authored several publications.

Dr. Harris’ skill set includes vast experience in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), cholangioscopy, enteral stenting, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for early esophageal cancer and Barrett esophagus, and endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer and large duodenal and colon polyps.

Dr. Harris looks forward to bringing her range of experience to the medical community in the greater Sarasota area.  She is currently accepting patients at Gastroenterology Associates of Sarasota.
